TO BE FOUND YOUR WEBSITE NEEDS TO BE MARKETED
Most of my recent websites are Search Engine Optimised (the majority of my clients do require this service). You can choose the level of SEO you wish me to undertake during the website production phase. You can also employ me to manage your web marketing strategy. SEO put simply, it is the clever content and authoring that enables your site to be found on the web. As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience.
I’m happy to carry out a ‘health check’ on your website during the initial consultancy stage. This will give you an idea of how well your website is performing and the positive steps to improve it. Please visit my contact page to get in touch if you would like to work together on your next strategy.
SEO For My Own Website
I actively carry out SEO and SEM on this website. The keywords I need to compete for (the words you type into a search engine to find a service) are highly competitive and aggressively sought after. I have written a few blog articles about this process for the keywords, Web Design Devon, Web Designer Devon, and SEO Devon. Please take a look at the articles, they offer an insight into organic SEO and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) practices. As a footnote, I do not carry out any Social Media Marketing for my website – there are two reasons. 1: I’m too busy working for my clients and 2: it has to be regularly maintained. My efforts are best spent on organic seo for this website.
You can choose Organic search engine optimisation (SEO), Pay Per Click, Social Media Marketing or maybe a mixture of the three strategies:
Organic SEO is the process of marketing your website effectively and ensuring that the ‘searched’ information in your website works for Google, Ask, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines. The better the SEO work, the higher up you will appear in search engines. Organic SEO does not cost anything to submit to search engines. I charge a fee to carry out the SEO work and you may choose to employ my services whilst building your website or maybe you want me to work on a site you already have. I do recommend that your SEO is reviewed and fine-tuned at least once every two months and every month to be really competitive.
The SEO process involves and is influenced by the following:
- The age of your website.
- How your website has previously performed in search engines.
- How well targeted the content is in your website.
- The structure of your website.
- Do you have a unique service or product?
- Who your competitors are and how many you have.
- Your geographic area.
- Changes in search engine or directory algorithms (the software engine that delivers search results).
Pay Per Click (PPC) advertisements appear in a box on search results pages and are separated from the regular search results. When your search link is clicked, you are charged each and every time. PPC fees range from a few pounds per month to many thousands. It all depends how quickly you want to be seen. Initially, it may provide a quick and apparently lower cost alternative to an Organic SEO strategy and be quick way to test your business model. However, over time, good quality and well managed Organic SEO is likely to be better value and provide better results. As with my other SEO services, I am happy to design a PPC strategy for you.
Google Analytics is a term you may have come across. It is a free service offered by Google and provides detailed statistics about visitors to your website. I install this excellent tool on every new website and I can also integrate it within existing websites. Useful statistics include the number of unique visitors, the number of returning visitors, where they are from, where they have come from (website or search engine). Google Analytics also has far more powerful reporting tools that may be used to monitor far more complex web based marketing campaigns.
Social Media Marketing is another excellent platform because in general it’s (mainly) free to market on these sites. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Myspace and LinkedIn are all top of the tree and are very useful to build effective campaigns that integrate with your website. If you’re active in this arena then I can create an effective campaign.
